Free printable English worksheets
245 English worksheets for kindergarten to grade 7: flashcards with pictures, writing and gap-fill exercises, questions and an answer key. Print them or download the PDF, free and with no sign-up. Every worksheet is also a classroom game.
What is on every worksheet
- Flashcards with Oly's own pictures, to cut out and use for games, word walls and pairs.
- Write the word under each picture.
- Complete the sentences with the missing word.
- Questions to answer, from the same set.
- The answers on the last page.
Each worksheet prints on A4 pages. A small Oly logo and a link sit at the top of every page, so the sheet still leads back to the game when it is photocopied.
How teachers use them
- Before the lesson: print the flashcards and teach the words with them.
- In class: play the set as a team game on the board, then hand out the worksheet while the words are fresh.
- For homework or a quiet start: the worksheet on its own, answers kept for marking.
- When the screen is off: the flashcards are a full paper game: hold up a picture, teams race to say or spell the word.
Looking for phonics?
The phonics worksheets follow the usual order: letter sounds (s, a, t, p, i, n first), short vowels and CVC words, word families, digraphs, blends, long vowels and vowel teams, plus sight words. They go with the phonics games.
Frequently asked questions
Are these English worksheets really free?
Yes. Every worksheet, its PDF and its answer key are free to print and copy for your class. You do not need an account.
Which grade is each worksheet for?
Each worksheet has a CEFR level, from Pre-A1 to B1. As a guide, Pre-A1 suits kindergarten and grade 1, A1 grades 2 and 3, A2 grades 4 and 5, and B1 grades 6 and 7. Pick by what your students can already do rather than by age.
Is there an answer key?
Yes. The answers are on the last page of every worksheet, numbered like the exercises. Untick "Answers" before printing if you only want the student pages.
Can I make a worksheet from my own lesson?
Yes. Make a game from your textbook page, a word list or a topic, then open its print page from the game editor. It has the same flashcards, exercises and answers, made from your words.
What is "Play as a game"?
Every worksheet is also a game for the whole class on one screen, a projector, TV or whiteboard, played in teams with your phone as the remote. Play it before the worksheet to learn the words, or after it to check them.
